Hello!
We're Mike and Dani Mortell, the founders of Lark Overland. We've traveled extensively across North America in our Scout camper, from coast to coast, up to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and down through Mexico and Guatemala.
Our passion for this lifestyle, born from years of travel and over 850 nights in our Scout, led us to start Lark Overland. We saw a need for a Scout dealer in the Midwest and wanted to share our love for adventure with others. Our goal is simple: to help you find and outfit the perfect travel rig for your own adventures.
Meet the Lark Crew
-
Mike Mortell
Co-Founder & CEO
Mike is the hands-on force behind Lark Overland. He runs the show, knows the campers inside and out, and brings brilliant, custom visions to life with his engineering and carpentry expertise. Got a complex technical question or a unique build in mind? Mike is the person to talk to. He loves to geek out on the details and is always happy to share what he knows.

Dani Mortell
Co-Founder & COO
Dani is the spirit and storyteller of Lark Overland. As the leader of our brand and internal operations, she’s the one behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly and looks good. She believes in doing right by our customers, team, and community, which inspired her to create our 2% for good program. Have a question about our mission or want to collaborate? She’s your person.

Daniel Ford
Sales Associate
As our first employee, Daniel set the bar incredibly high. His dedication to our customers and the business rivals that of Dwight Schrute—in all the best ways. No task is too small for his exceptional care, and he always shares his camper knowledge in a helpful, no-pressure way. While he's an extraordinaire at camper detailing and resealing, his favorite days are spent running camper pick-ups. He’s the one who will guide you through every detail of your new rig, handle all the paperwork, and help you get loaded up for the journey ahead.
-
Dennis Johnson
Service Technician
Dennis is our technical expert and Mike's right-hand man for all things custom. A veteran of the Army National Guard and a true 12v wiring mastermind, he tackles complex electrical systems, major upgrades, and custom installations with an impressive level of quality. He's the one willing to squeeze into the tightest spaces to troubleshoot issues and ensure every detail is perfect for our customers. As the only parent on our team, we love when he brings his industrious 5 year-old in to help out around the shop. -
Granger
Head of K9 Relations & Greeter
Meet Granger, our indispensable Head of K9 Relations and overzealous greeter. She welcomes every visitor with excited wiggles and serves as our unofficial town crier, often yelling a friendly invitation to anyone walking past the shop. Her primary duty is entertaining visiting pups while their parents tour campers, ensuring a seamless cross-species customer experience. Internally, she’s the team's chief emotional support officer and adheres to a strict treat schedule, dutifully enforced by Daniel.
Why Yellow Springs?
We chose Yellow Springs for its vibrant and quirky downtown, surrounded by the natural beauty of lush forests and scenic bluffs. It's a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and a place with a creative, independent spirit. When you visit us, we hope you'll take some extra time to explore this unique village and see why we're proud to call it home.
